Maine publisher sues Amazon.com
The operator of a print-on-demand publishing business in Maine is suing Amazon.com in U.S. District Court.
Angela Adair-Hoy claims that Amazon's recent announcement to use one on-demand publisher exclusively violates antitrust law. Her lawsuit seeks class-action status, an injunction to bar Amazon from implementing the new policy and monetary damages.
According to the lawsuit, about half the sales of BookLocker.com of Bangor are through Amazon. Adair-Hoy also asserts that there are about 4,300 potential print-on-demand class members.
A message left Wednesday with Amazon.com was not immediately returned.
