Another of Washington's Democratic superdelegates is supporting Barack Obama, and this time it's the state party chairman.
Chairman Dwight Pelz says Obama can win the general election against Republican John McCain. In a letter to Democrats around the state, Pelz says Obama "is ready to be a great American president."
Pelz has been staying out of the nominating battle between Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton. But since the state party's delegate selections are essentially complete, and he's ready to make his preference known.
Pelz is the seventh of Washington's 17 Democratic superdelegates to back Obama. Clinton has five declared supporters. The rest have not declared their preference.
