Searchers find two girls missing in Clark County

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Two girls who became separated from their father on a hike in a remote part of Clark County have been found — tired, but in good physical condition.

A Clark County sheriff's spokesman, Sgt. Steve Shea, says they were found by ground searchers from Fire District 13, known as the Volcano Rescue Team.

He says when the girls, ages 7 and 10, were found about 10:30 a.m. today, they were about four miles from where the hike began and about a mile from where a hiking trail crosses Coyote Creek.

More than three dozen searchers from various agencies had been searching for the girls.

The father called 911 Sunday night and reported he and a 15-year-old child had become separated from the young girls during the hike at Tarbell Trail, north of Battleground
