To be designated a landmark, a building, object or site must be at least 25 years old, "possess integrity" and be able to "convey its significance."

Once it meets those standards, it then must qualify under at least one of the following six criteria. Can you guess which of the criteria the Landmarks Preservation Board cited for each landmark?

A. It is the location of, or significantly associated with, a significant historic event.

B. It is significantly associated with the life of an historically important person.

C. It is significantly associated with a significant aspect of our cultural, political or economic heritage.

D. It embodies distinctive visible characteristics of an architectural style, period or method of construction.

E. It is an outstanding work of a designer or builder.

F. Because of its prominence of location, contrasts of siting, age or scale, it is an easily identifiable visual feature and contributes to the distinctive quality or identity of the city or a neighborhood.
