Suspects sought in shooting of woman, 10-year-old son in West Seattle
Seattle Times staff reporter
Police are searching for suspects in connection with a shooting of a woman and her 10-year-old son in West Seattle Tuesday night.
About 10:30 p.m., police were called to the 5600 block of Delridge Way Southwest after a witness reported hearing 10 to 12 shots being fired, said Reneé Witt, police department spokeswoman.
The woman, 28, was standing in her kitchen cooking when someone fired several rounds through the window, hitting her several times in the chest and leg, Witt said.
Then someone else, "possibly the same shooter," fired multiple rounds into the other side of the house and struck the woman's young son in the back of the shoulder, Witt said.
Both victims were treated on the scene and transferred to Harborview Medical Center, where they are expected to fully recover from their injuries, she added.
Homicide detectives and gang-unit detectives are investigating for a possible motive, Witt said.
The suspect may have driven a burgundy SUV, Witt said.
