Mental exam ordered for woman in Spokane shooting death
A woman charged with shooting her roommate to death with a shotgun in Spokane has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
Meanwhile, proceedings in the first-degree murder case against 26-year-old Natalie Rose Orth have been stayed.
Orth is charged with killing her roommate, 44-year-old Mary J. Bauer, to death at their apartment on Feb. 8.
According to Spokane County Superior Court records, Judge Jerome J. Leveque ordered on March 28 that Orth undergo a 90-day mental evaluation at Eastern State Hospital.
In court filings police wrote that Orth has described herself as schizophrenic. claiming she has been treated at Sacred Heart Medical Center and Eastern State Hospital dozens of times.
