Doctor critically hurt in Belltown attack

Seattle police are searching for witnesses to an attack in Belltown early Sunday morning which has left a University of Washington physician in critical condition.

Seattle police are searching for witnesses to an attack in Belltown early Sunday morning which has left a University of Washington physician in critical condition.

Police said that the 36-year-old victim and his girlfriend were walking near Third Avenue and Cedar Street, after leaving a nightclub when the victim got into an argument with another man. The victim was punched and his head struck the sidewalk, police said.

The victim's name wasn't released.

The other man and several witnesses fled before police arrived.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Seattle police Homicide Unit at 206-684-5550.
