Woman who died in Port Orchard fire was a homicide
Police say the woman whose body was found in a burning home in Port Orchard had been stabbed, and the fire was no accident.
Commander Geoffrey Marti (MAR'-tie) says an autopsy Thursday showed 47-year-old Linda Malcom died of "multiple sharp force injuries." He also says the fire apparently was set.
Marti says investigators have no motive. They want to talk with anyone who had contact with Malcom in the past two weeks.
She lived alone in the house that burned early Wednesday. Firefighters found the body in her bed. Malcom worked as a legal assistant and planned to move this week to a new job in Bremerton.
The house was scheduled for demolition this month, but Marti says that's not connected to the homicide.
