UW dean's list student dead in skateboard collision with bus
A 20-year-old University of Washington student is dead after his skateboard collided with a transit bus in Seattle.
The Seattle Times identifies the student as Chase Anderson of Bellevue, a business major who was on the dean's list. He belonged to the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and was a top basketball player last year at Bellevue High School.
Police Officer Renee S. Witt says the skateboarder hit the side of a King County Metro bus at an intersection about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Witt says the bus had a green light. The skateboarder fell under the rear wheels and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say there was no sign of impairment in the 46-year-old bus driver.
Relatives at the home of Anderson's mother have declined to comment.
