Gay, anti-gay demonstrations target Snoqualmie school

Some parents are keeping students home from Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie to avoid a gay rights demonstration and counter-demonstration.

A student Day of Silence on Friday in support of gay and lesbian students has drawn a protest from a group led by Redmond pastor Ken Hutcherson, who has a daughter at the school. Gay rights supporters plan a counter-protest.

Hutcherson says any gay rights demonstrations at the school should have been before or after classes. Student organizers say the Day of Silence supports students who fear retaliation because of their sexual orientation.
