Man accused of Federal Way killing pleads not guilty
The man accused of killing a woman outside a Federal Way nursing home has pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge.
The King County prosecutor's office says Joseph Njonge (n-JONG'-ay) was held on $1 million bail after Thursday arraignment.
The 24-year-old Kent man from Kenya is accused of beating and strangling Jane Britt.
The body of the 75-year-old woman was found March 19 in the trunk of her car in the parking lot of the Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center of Excellence where her husband is a resident.
Njonge worked at the home as a nursing assistant. Prosecutors say his DNA matched blood found under Britt's fingernails, apparently left from her struggle with her attacker.
Police say robbery may have been the motive.
