Seattle travel writer defends his work for 'Lonely Planet'

A Seattle travel writer is defending his work for the "Lonely Planet" books.

The writer, Thomas Kohnstamm, says Australian newspapers took his comments out of context when they reported that he claimed he made up parts of the books, lifted information from other publications and accepted gifts, against Lonely Planet policies.

Lonely Planet is reviewing his book contributions, but the publisher says it has found nothing inaccurate.

Kohnstamm is due to visit Australia soon to promote his new book "Do Travel Writers Go to Hell?"
