Spokane, Wash., produce distributor recalling cantaloupe
A Spokane, Wash., produce distributor is recalling packages of cut cantaloupe after the Food and Drug Administration issued an alert that melons from a Honduran company could be linked to a salmonella outbreak.
At least 50 people in 16 states have become ill from eating cantaloupes from Agropecuaria (AG'-ro-peck-WAR'-ee-ah) Montelibano (MONT-ell-ee-BAH'-no).
Charlie's Produce in Spokane says its recall applies to cantaloupe products it sold in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana with a use-by date of March 7 through March 29.
The company says it has received no reports of any illnesses.
The FDA says no deaths have been linked to the salmonella outbreak, although 14 people were hospitalized.
