Chehalis fire burns furniture donated for WA flood victims
Fire has destroyed a building in Chehalis that was being used as a warehouse and distribution center of furniture for flood victims.
The Chehalis Eagles Aerie No. 1550 building was described as a total loss Tuesday. Gov. Chris Gregoire says it's another blow to victims of flooding that devastated Lewis County in December.
Two firefighters were injured, though not seriously. Both were hospitalized for observation.
Chehalis fire officials say the blaze was brought under control a little after 1 p.m., roughly three hours after it started.
Eagles officials said the former Morehead's Grill building, acquired in 1956, was insured. Meetings were moved to a small building nearby about 2 1/2 years ago.
The governor issued a statement asking for donations of cash or gift cards to make up for the fire loss.
