Starbucks names new president for U.S. operations

Starbucks Corp. has named a new president for its U.S. operations, where stores have suffered a decline in customer traffic amid a slumping economy in recent months.

Incoming will be Cliff Burrows, who has served as president of the coffee retailer's Europe, Middle East and Africa division. Burrows is succeeding Launi Skinner. The company says she is stepping down to spend more time with her family. Skinner is resigning less than eight months after she got the job.

Starbucks says it has high expectations for Burrows, whom it credited with spurring the company's growth and profitability overseas.
