Man arrested in Ballard WA slaying
Seattle police say a fight over a dog may have led to the beating death of a man in Ballard.
A 45-year-old man was arrested on Sunday and booked into King County Jail.
Police spokeswoman Renee Witt says the man and another man first had an altercation Friday, when the suspect's dog and another dog got into a fight, and the victim supposedly intervened.
Witt says the man got the best of the victim in that fight and, then at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday saw the victim asleep in his car and beat him to death with a metal pipe.
Passers-by reported seeing the victim dead in his car. Police canvassed the area and found the assailant in his own vehicle a few blocks away. Witt says the man was covered in blood.
The man is expected to have a bail hearing Monday.
Both men are believed to be transients.
