The State Patrol has arrested a man for allegedly stabbing another man in a car on the Interstate 90 bridge and then getting out of the car and hijacking a second vehicle.
The State Patrol arrested the suspect after troopers forced his car into a ditch on I-90 near the Highway 18 exit.
The stabbing occurred on the east side of the bridge over Lake Washington around 11 a.m., according to State Patrol spokesman Jeff Merrill.
The suspect was driving east from Seattle with two others when he stabbed the victim. The man then pushed the injured man and a female who was also in the car onto the freeway, got out of the car himself, threatened other motorists with the knife and carjacked a second vehicle. The suspect then ran over the stabbing victim and continued eastbound.
Merrill said troopers used a ramming maneuver to force the car into a ditch near Highway 18. He said the suspect was completely noncompliant and had to be Tased before he could be taken into custody.
Information about what sparked the man's rage were not immediately clear, Merrill said. The injured man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was listed in critical condition this afternoon.
"All we know is there were three people in the car, some dispute broke out and this guy got out a knife and stabbed his male passenger," said Merrill.
