A June 16 trial date has been set in the city of Seattle's lawsuit against the Sonics over the team's KeyArena lease.

That could complicate efforts by Sonics owner Clay Bennett to move the team to Oklahoma City by the next NBA season.

U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman set the date for the six-day trial at a scheduling conference this morning.

Bradley Keller, an attorney for the Sonics, pressed for an earlier trial, telling Pechman the NBA usually sets its schedule for the following season in June.

The NBA board of governors is expected to meet in April to discuss Bennett's relocation request.

But the June trial is also much earlier than the late-October date requested by the city of Seattle.

The city sued the Sonics last year in an attempt to force the team to remain at city-owned KeyArena through the end of its lease in 2010. The Sonics are seeking a ruling allowing the team to pay a cash settlement to the city in return for leaving before then.
