An Amtrak train collided with the rear of a pickup at a train crossing in Auburn this morning, officials said.

The collision occurred at the West Main Street crossing shortly before 8:30 a.m. today, when a southbound train ran into a truck that was backing up from an auto body shop's parking lot onto the tracks, Auburn Police spokesman Scott Near said.

The 44-year-old driver apparently backed up a bit too far and the train clipped the rear of the truck, causing it to hit another car nearby, said Auburn Police Sgt. Scott Near.

There were no injuries reported, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

Vernae Graham, an Amtrak spokeswoman, said Train 501 left Seattle at 7:30 a.m. today for Portland. It was on the move shortly after 9:15 a.m.

Last Monday, an Amtrak train hit a pedestrian in Stanwood. The man, who ducked under the railroad crossing arms as the train approached, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical head injuries.
