What's open, closed over the holiday

• Banks and credit unions will be closed Christmas Day; some banks have early afternoon closures Monday. • City, county and...

• Banks and credit unions will be closed Christmas Day; some banks have early afternoon closures Monday.

• City, county and state offices are open Monday and will be closed Christmas Day. Federal offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

• Post offices will be closed Christmas Day, and there won't be any home delivery except for Express Mail.

• Seattle and King County libraries will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Sno-Isle libraries close at 3 p.m. Monday and are closed Tuesday.

• Liquor stores will be closed Christmas Day.

• Many area malls and retail centers close early Monday and are closed Christmas Day.

• Garbage, recycling and yard-waste pickups for Seattle residents are suspended Christmas Day; pickups are scheduled Wednesday for households usually served Tuesday. All other collections this week will be delayed by one day. Containers should be out by 7 a.m. Recycling and disposal stations are closed Christmas Day.

• Puget Sound Blood Centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

• The Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Animal Shelter are closed Christmas Day.

Getting around

• Metro and Sound Transit operate on weekday schedules Monday with a few exceptions and follow a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day. Sound Transit offers a special midday run Monday. The waterfront bus and the Sounder Commuter rail will not operate Christmas Day, and the downtown Seattle bus tunnel will be closed. For complete and updated information, visit

•Community Transit local buses will operate on regular schedules (except Boeing service). Commuter service to Seattle will be reduced Monday and operate on Sunday schedules on Christmas Day. For information, see: www.communitytransit.org.

• Washington State Ferries will add extra sailings on some routes with expected backups prior and after the holidays to help alleviate traffic. There will be no Seattle-Vashon passenger-only service Christmas Day.

Mukilteo-Clinton operates on holiday schedule Tuesday.

Seattle-Bainbridge operates on weekend schedule Tuesday.

Seattle-Bremerton operates regular schedule Monday and Tuesday.

Anacortes-San Juan operates regular schedule Monday and Tuesday.

Port Townsend-Keystone operates regular schedule Monday and Tuesday; Port Townsend-to-Seattle passenger ferry operates regular schedule both days.
