YAKIMA — A Yakima County jail inmate has died three days after being found hanging in her cell.
She was identified Tuesday as 43-year-old Sandra Knight, who had listed a Yakima-area address. Investigators in the jail and the coroner's office say she apparently committed suicide.
Jail Director Steve Robertson says there had been no indication that Knight was likely to harm herself.
She was arrested November first for investigation of prostitution and using drug paraphernalia. Four days later, jail officials say, she was found hanging from a blanket in the common area of a four-inmate cell complex. Robertson says guards had checked on her 10 minutes earlier.
Knight died on Thursday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
