Here is a roundup of Veterans Day ceremonies and events and what's open and closed Monday, when the holiday is observed:

Events

• Seattle Veterans Museum will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today through Monday, Second Avenue between Union and University streets (west side of Benaroya Hall), Seattle. www.seattleveteransmuseum.org

• Gov. Christine Gregoire speaks at the annual Veterans Day Remembrance and Lighting of the Flame Ceremony at 9:45 a.m. today, Veterans Memorial Park and Auburn's Veterans Memorial, 411 E. Street N.E. The event is followed at 11 a.m. by Auburn's annual Veterans Day Parade, which travels west along Main Street to B Street Northwest. www.auburnwa.gov

• As part of the White River Valley Museum's exhibit "Courage Untold," children's author and journalist Ken Mochizuki reads from his book "Heroes" from 4-5 p.m. today at the museum, 918 H St. S.E., Auburn. Admission to the museum is $1 for children and $2 for adults. www.wrvmuseum.org

• Veterans and current members of the U.S. armed forces receive free admission to the Museum of Flight on Sunday. Special programs scheduled today and Sunday include the Fighter Aces panel at 2 p.m. today, a family workshop at 11:15 a.m. today and Sunday, and a Veterans Day program from noon-3:30 p.m. Sunday. The museum is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle. Admission is $14 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and older and $7.50 for children 5-17. www.museumofflight.org

• Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park's 58th annual tribute will begin at 11 a.m. (music begins at 10:30 a.m.) Sunday, Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle.

• Tahoma National Cemetery, special program at 11 a.m. Sunday, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent.

• Retired U.S. Army Gen. John Shalikashvili, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaks at the Patriots Landing Retirement Community Veterans Day ceremonies, 10:30 a.m. Sunday, 1600 Marshall Circle, DuPont. Space is limited; RSVP to 523-964-4900.

• Resident veterans will be honored during a special program at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Park Place Assisted Living, 6900 37th Ave. S., Seattle.

Veterans Day services are planned at several African-American churches in King County.

• 11 a.m. at First African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1522 14th Ave., Seattle.

• 7:30 and 10:45 a.m., New Beginnings Christian Fellowship, Lindberg High, 16426 128th Ave. S.E., Renton.

• 8 and 11 a.m., Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Baptist Church, 4519 N.E. 104th St., Renton.

Closures

• Most government offices and schools will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day.

• Most banks will be closed Monday, with some in-store branches open.

• Washington State Ferries will follow regular Sunday and Monday schedules.

• Most Metro bus routes will be in service on Monday, but for exceptions check Metro's Web site: www.metrokc.gov/kcdot/transtoday/2007news/nov/tt110507.htm#feature2

• Community Transit and Everett Transit operate regular Sunday and Monday schedules.

• Post offices are closed. No home mail delivery, except Express Mail.

• State liquor stores are closed, but some contract stores may be open.

• Major shopping malls are open regular hours.

• Seattle and King County libraries will be closed Sunday and open Monday. Sno-Isle libraries will be closed Sunday and Monday.

• Seattle parking meters and pay stations are free on Monday. Peak-hour parking restrictions are still in effect.

• Garbage pickup and transfer stations follow regular Monday schedules.
