Witness says RV "mowed down" Oregon pedestrian

PORTLAND, Ore. — The driver of a recreational vehicle "mowed down" a man in Northeast Portland who was trying to stop her from driving away, witnesses said.

The incident occured today, and police say they are treating it as a homicide.

According to witnesses, the mobile home dragged the man 20 to 30 feet and then drove away, leaving him dead in the street.

An owner of a nearby coffee shop saw the RV pull into a nearby vacant lot where the man get out and a woman jumped into the driver's seat, the Oregonian reported.

When she started pulling away, the man jumped in front of the vehicle and then tumbled underneath.

Police did not release the name of the victim but said he lived just a few blocks from the scene.
