"No one will enjoy themselves if they're outside" this weekend

Keep those umbrellas handy for the next few days because it's looks to be a rainy, potentially blustery, weekend.

Chris Burke, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle, predicts rain will develop Saturday afternoon and continue throughout the evening and into Sunday. Temperatures will likely be in the 50s Saturday and near 60 Sunday, he said.

"It will be rainy and no one will enjoy themselves if they're outside," he said.

One weather forecasting model shows a deep low-pressure center approaching the coast from the southwest to the northeast, which could make for a very windy Tuesday.

Burke said it's too soon to say for sure, and it is possible that strong winds won't wind up hitting Western Washington that day. Other models do not indicate wind storms Tuesday, he said.

Snowfall is expected to lessen, with snow levels around 8,500 feet on Sunday.

That may be good news for construction crews at Mount Rainier National Park, where they are working in the snow to finish the exterior of a new visitors center at Paradise.

Crews hope to finish the roof by the end of the month. The new center, part of a $39 million project, is due to open next fall.
