SELAH, Yakima County — A 90-year-old woman has died of injuries five days after she crashed an all-terrain vehicle near Selah.

Yakima County Coroner Maurice Q. Rice says Dorthea Cashman of Bonney Lake died Tuesday night at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Cashman had just been given an A-T-V lesson and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash a week ago. Authorities say she panicked, kept her hand on the accelerator, hit two fences and landed in a shallow stream.

Sheriff's deputies said at first that she was expected to survive the crash despite having numerous broken bones.
