A Federal Way police officer is facing misconduct charges involving a high-school student and has been placed on administrative leave, the Federal Way Police Department said.
Officer Terry Wilson, 48, was charged with assault and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, according to the department.
In June, a 17-year-old student at Federal Way High School accused Wilson of inappropriate comments and touching. Wilson worked at the high school as a resource officer.
Wilson was put on paid leave June 7, and the Renton Police Department investigated the allegations. He will be on leave pending the outcome of the charges. It's standard procedure to have an outside police agency investigate officer misconduct among police departments.
The city of Auburn today filed the misdemeanor charges against Wilson.
Wilson, 48, has worked for the Federal Way Police Department for five years. He spent two years working at the Honolulu Police Department before that.
Wilson has no prior discipline or complaint history with the Federal Way Police Department.
