Councilmember Hague faces DUI hearing

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Jane Hague faces a Redmond court appearance Aug. 29 on a driving-under-the-influence charge, according to court records.

Neither Hague nor her attorney, William Kirk, could be reached for comment about the July 16 charge.

Hague, who lives in Bellevue and has been a councilmember since 1994, pleaded not guilty to the charge July 30, requested a jury trial and notified the court of an affirmative defense, court filings indicate.

Hague is appearing unopposed as a Republican candidate on today's primary-election ballot for re-election to the council.

Details of the charge were not immediately available, but court filings indicate the case was brought in King County District Court in Redmond as a result of an investigation by the Washington State Patrol, with the violation taking place June 2.

According to court papers, a motion was filed at the July 30 hearing requesting a change of judge.

At another court hearing on Aug. 7, a pretrial hearing was scheduled for Aug. 29. No trial date has been set.
