A West Seattle fire that injured two firefighters yesterday was intentionally set, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
The fire, at California Avenue Southwest and Southwest Genesee Street, involved two buildings under construction, a duplex and an apartment building, said department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick. Residents were evacuated from the apartment building.
Fitzpatrick said the fire was arson and that the department has been assisted by agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Damage is estimated at $625,000, she said. The case is being investigated by Seattle police.
