TACOMA — Tacoma Public Utilities is telling its customers not to worry about the yellow tint to the water.
The utility says it's safe to drink. It says the color is a result of naturally occurring minerals, like manganese, that dissolve in the water at the Howard Hanson Dam reservoir as oxygen levels drop in the late summer.
The discoloration will end when rains return in the fall.
