The toy recall is just the latest in a wave of product withdrawals that has heightened global concern about Chinese-made items. Pet food, tires, toothpaste, bicycles, extension cords and snack foods are among the items found to be tainted, defective or in need of further inspection. If you're unsure about a product you already own, you can first contact the manufacturer. Six federal agencies jointly list product recalls at www.recalls.gov
