The temperature hits record 98 degrees
The temperature at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hit 98 degrees at 5:30 p.m., surpassing the record of 95 degrees set in 1951, according to the National Weather Service.
Though temperatures are starting to slowly fall, tonight's heat will likely remain "uncomfortable," said weather service meteorologist Mike McFarland.
It could still be in the high 70s at midnight, he said.
The forecast for tomorrow is significantly cooler, though still above average. The high is expected to reach about 84 degrees Thursday.
