A woman was killed in Auburn this morning after she was struck by a southbound train at a downtown Auburn Sound Transit station.

Traffic near Auburn Station, 23 A St. S.W., is blocked while police await the King County Medical Examiner's Office, said Auburn Police Sgt. Scott Near. BNSF were stopped until about 1 p.m.

The 50 mph train was traveling from Wenatchee to Tacoma, said BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas. The train crew braked, but was unable to stop. The crash marks the seventh train fatality in the state this year, he said.

Police are investigating the 11:31 a.m. crash as a suicide , Near said.
