Renton School District classes started about two hours late today after someone deflated the tires on its entire 90-bus fleet.
A district official said he suspects senioritis, not vandalism, may be behind the incident overnight.
"It could be a senior prank," said Randy Matheson, a district spokesman. "It's the end of the year."
Today is graduation day for Renton High School, one of the district's three high schools. Renton High, which was scheduled to open only for half day today, will be closed entirely.
Matheson said someone entered the bus barn at 1220 N. Fourth St. and let out the air on a pair of tires on each bus.
Surveillance cameras from the bus depot are being examined to see if they captured any unauthorized entries, Matheson said. The district brought in lift trucks to aid in re-inflating the tires.
The fleet serves the district's 13 elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools and five education sites.
