Motorists headed for the Canadian border on Sunday will find Interstate 5 northbound closed from exit 275 in Blaine to the U.S.-Canadian border from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The stretch will be closed for the Peace Arch Association's annual Hands Across the Border celebration at Peace Arch Park.
Motorists headed south from Canada to I-5 also will find the highway closed during those hours.
Traffic going north to cross the border should exit I-5 at Highway 543 in Blaine to use the Pacific Highway truck crossing or other routes.
The truck crossing will have only one lane open in each direction because of construction. Drivers can expect traffic backups and delays in both directions.
Along with the truck crossing, both the Highway 539 crossing north of Lynden and the Highway 9 crossing at Sumas in Whatcom County will be open.
The Peace Arch Celebration is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. in the park.
