Calling all sun lovers: It reached 87 degrees today at Sea-Tac Airport, tying the record high set in 1956.

Temperatures Thursday should be a little cooler, but still plenty warm; average highs for this time of year are in the upper 60s.

Johnny Burg, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said he didn't quite understand why reaching 87 degrees would cause such excitement in Seattle.

"I'm from the Midwest, where we have tornados and hail and flooding and stuff," he said. "I guess I've been around weather too much."
