Woodinville
Shots were fired Tuesday afternoon during the arrest of two car-theft suspects east of Woodinville. No one was injured, police said.
Redmond police officers arrested a 26-year-old Duvall man and a 20-year-old Woodinville woman who were inside a stolen car in the 20400 block of Northeast Woodinville-Duvall Road at about 1:20 p.m., said Redmond police Detective Tim Gately.
The officers had been following the pair as they drove the stolen car, and the officers approached when the car stopped, Gately said. The man, who was driving, resisted arrest, according to police.
It is unclear who fired shots, Gately said. The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
Bothell
Canyon Park fifth in Science Olympiad
A team from Bothell's Canyon Park Junior High placed fifth among junior-high and middle schools last weekend at the National Science Olympiad in Wichita, Kansas.
Last year's Canyon Park team placed 22nd in the nationwide competition, which tests students' knowledge of more than 40 branches of science.
In individual events, Canyon Park's Katherine Lacy and Abby Sloan won first place in anatomy.
A team from Bothell High School placed 28th in the high-school competition. In individual events, Katie Ewing and Allen Zhang took third in ecology.
Students from both schools paid most of the trip's costs themselves, but hope to recoup some of that money at a fundraising dinner and silent auction June 9 at the Bothell Outback Steakhouse.

Medina
Elementary school open for tours today
The public is invited to tour the new Medina Elementary School building during an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. today.
The school, at 8001 N.E. Eighth St. in Medina, was rebuilt with funds from a $324 million school bond that voters approved in 2002.
The new building integrates art projects created through the efforts of the students, PTA, parents, faculty, neighbors and the Bellevue School District. The art was created under the direction of the Pomegranate Center and is meant to help create community gathering places.
The bond allowed the district to rebuild and upgrade many schools, including 11 of its 16 elementary schools.
