Chances poor for strip club at Giggles site, owner says

The owner of Giggles comedy club said Saturday the business is not going to turn into a strip club, despite a former owner's application to the city this week.
Terry Taylor, the owner of the University District comedy club, said that he has no plans to open a strip club and that the owner of the building he leases also opposes such a move.
Bob Davis, a former owner of Giggles, filed two applications with the city of Seattle on Friday, listing one possible strip-club location at Giggle's and another for a building near Safeco Field.
But it is not clear either spot will emerge as the city's first new strip club in decades.
For years, a moratorium on new clubs prevented any from opening. Davis sued and got the moratorium overturned by a federal judge in 2005. He has been seeking a location to open a strip club ever since.
Davis previously applied for a city license to open a club in Greenwood but was not able to lease or rent a building there.
Davis said he is applying for business licenses now to get them in before the City Council acts on proposed zoning laws which would prevent new clubs from opening near schools, parks and other strip clubs. But he said "I'm not sure any of them (his proposed locations) will ever bear fruit."
