The Multiple Sclerosis Association of King County hosts a Medical Insurance and Life Planning 101 class in the hope of relieving frustration, worry and confusion about the illness.

The class will be held at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Ave. S., Tukwila, from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday

Topics to be covered are Medicare benefits such as Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Part D (prescription-drug plan), Medicare Advantage Plan, Medigap, other insurance options for people with chronic illnesses, and life-planning tools such as living wills and power of attorney.

Speaker Dave Lilly, a 10-year adviser of the Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisor (SHIBA), also will provide tips and medical-insurance information.

A registration fee of $10 per person or $15 for couples is required.

Senior health fair

Wednesday: The newly remodeled Senior Center of West Seattle, 4217 S.W. Oregon St., presents a health fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Representatives will offer the public free traditional and alternative health services such as blood-pressure and glucose readings, bone-density screening, acupuncture and massage. Information: 206-932-4044, ext. 1.

Raising global awareness

Saturday-Sunday: In collaboration with Invisible Children Inc., area residents committed to ending the war in Northern Uganda and the use of children as soldiers will come together this weekend in a protest called "Displace Me."

Seattle water taxi

Sunday: The Elliott Bay Water Taxi celebrates its 10th year of service at Seacrest Park in West Seattle, 1660 Harbor Ave. S.W., near Fairmount Avenue Southwest, from noon to 2 p.m.

Food, festivities and free rides on the water taxi will be among the activities. Information: 206-296-1927.

Traffic watch

Today: One of the northbound lanes leaving Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will close at 12:01 a.m. today for 48 hours. This is to allow construction of Sound Transit's Link light-rail guideway.

Congestion and delays should be expected during peak midday and evening travel times. The use of commercial ground transportation is advised for the next two days.

April 24, 1851: Alfred A. Plummer and Charles Bachelder landed on a beach at the mouth of Port Townsend. They were the first non-Indians to settle in the Clallam Indian area called Kah Tai. With two others, they established the town of Port Townsend, which they named for the bay.
