Man arrested in connection with body found in trunk of car

Seattle Police have arrested a 56-year-old man on suspicion of homicide in connection with the discovery of a woman's body inside the trunk of a car on Sunday.

Officers received a call Sunday at 11:19 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle parked in the 400 block of Northwest 100th Place, near Carkeek Park, said police spokesman Sean Whitcomb.

Homicide and crime scene investigators were called to the scene and found an adult woman's body in the trunk of a silver Mercury Cougar. Police believe the car had been parked there for months.

The man turned himself into officers at the department's North Precinct late Sunday night and was booked into King County Jail.

The King County Medical Examiner this morning is expected to conduct an autopsy of the body.
