Canadian teacher sentenced for locker room voyeurism

The Associated Press

OLYMPIA - A Canadian teacher has been sentenced to time served for videotaping high school wrestlers in the shower during a tournament in Tumwater.

Chi Yung Luu, 30, a drama teacher at Burnsview Secondary School in Delta, British Columbia, has been in custody since his arrest at the tournament in December, and his teaching license has been suspended.

Luu pleaded guilty last month, and was sentenced Tuesday in Thurston County Superior Court.

Luu will now be turned over to federal authorities and will eventually be deported. Prosecutors said that Luu will likely be prosecuted in Canada for similar incidents.

Luu was arrested after being spotted by an 18-year-old wrestler at a December tournament in the Olympia suburb that drew teams from 13 schools in Western Washington. The athlete said he saw a man with a camera hidden in a bag and towel and recognized him as someone he had seen doing the same thing at a tournament in 2004.
