Chad Sauders of Puyallup helps dismantle Alexander Calder's 39-foot-high sculpture "Eagle" for its trip to the Olympic Sculpture Park on the downtown Seattle waterfront. The 1971 piece has been on display in front of the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park since 2001. The sculpture, a gift from Jon and Mary Shirley, is composed of 19 plates and more than 600 bolts. It will be refurbished before being installed in the sculpture park. Calder (1898-1976) is best known for his wafting assemblages dubbed "mobiles," his circus tableaux and his large-scale steel sculptures.
