Seattle firefighters Monday morning rescued two window washers who had become stuck outside the eighth floor of the King County Courthouse for about 20 minutes. County employees Chris Miller and Jamal Becton got stuck when their platform spun around and the portion that should have faced out ended up facing the building. "They were never in danger of falling," said Seattle Fire Department Battalion Chief Bryan Hastings. "They just weren't capable of controlling vertical movement." Firefighters unscrewed a window so Miller and Becton could climb inside the building, at 516 Third Ave. Jon Staab, building superintendent, said county employees were investigating why the platform, which is suspended from four cables, malfunctioned.
