Monday, June 26, 2006 - Page updated at 04:10 PM Tulalips plan hotel, other projects for reservationSeattle Times business reporter The Tulalip Tribes, the first Seattle-area tribe to build a casino, plan to add a 12-story hotel, a four-story office building and a museum to their reservation. In addition, the tribes hope the $200 million complex, off I-5 northwest of Marysville, will eventually include another hotel tower, a recreational vehicle park, possibly a waterpark and some light-manufacturing space. "It would be nice to attract an aerospace manufacturer," said state Rep. John McCoy, D-Tulalip Reservation. The new hotel, called the Tulalip Casino Hotel, will feature 363 rooms and suites, two new restaurants, a 30,000-square-foot convention center, gaming space, spa, salon, fitness center and pool. Construction is scheduled to begin July 12 and be complete by spring 2008. Construction dates frames have not been determined for the office building and the museum. The new hotel is expected to create about 450 jobs, McCoy said; the museum will be run by members of the tribe. The Tulalips run a nearby casino with a 2.2-acre gaming floor, a shopping center with Home Depot and Wal-Mart, a 2,300-seat amphitheater and a bingo hall. Copyright © 2006 The Seattle Times Company
