Woman who fell from catering van identified

The King County Medical Examiner's Office has identified 43-year-old Yen Nguyen as the woman who died this week after falling from the back of a catering-style van onto the West Seattle Bridge.

Nguyen died Wednesday morning from injuries that included skull and long-bone fractures, according to death investigators. Her death was ruled an accident.

At 7:21 a.m. Wednesday, a woman called 911 to report an injured woman lying on the bridge between First Avenue South and Fourth Avenue South, police said. Nguyen, a cook, apparently fell backwards out of the van, but the driver and Nguyen's co-worker, a man in his 40s, didn't realize she was missing until stopping near the bridge, apparently to sell food. He reported her missing after he returned to a previous stop and couldn't find her.
