A sample of proposed ballot measures

More than two dozen proposed ballot measures have been filed with the Secretary of State's Office. The following are some measures with active campaigns.

Initiative 937: Would require utilities to get 15 percent of their power from renewable resources. Washingtonians for Energy Security, the PAC behind the initiative, has raised nearly $300,000 and has hired paid signature gatherers.

Big donations include $68,500 from the American Wind Energy Association, a trade group; $30,000 from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council; and $5,000 from the Sierra Club.

Initiative 917: A Tim Eyman initiative that would limit motor-vehicle-registration fees to $30 a year for vehicles weighing less than 22,000 pounds and would repeal certain charges exceeding the limit.

A PAC called Saveour30tabs.com has raised about $260,000 and has hired paid signature gatherers. Almost $158,000 was donated by Michael Dunmire, an investment adviser from Woodinville who has contributed to Eyman's efforts in the past.

Initiative 933: Would require state and local governments either to compensate landowners when land-use regulations lower property values or to waive those rules. A PAC called the Property Fairness Coalition has raised about $225,000 and has hired paid signature gatherers. Contributions include $50,000 from Americans for Limited Government and $49,500 from the Washington State Farm Bureau.

Referendum 65: Would overturn a law passed by the Legislature in January that bans discrimination against gays and lesbians by adding sexual orientation to a state law against discrimination.

Tim Eyman filed the referendum and created a PAC called Let The Voters Decide to fund it. The group has raised only $685 but reportedly has an extensive grass-roots campaign to collect signatures, including help from the Faith and Freedom Network, a religious organization based in Bothell.
