Cheney attends GOP fund-raiser in Everett

Seattle Times staff reporter

Vice President Dick Cheney gave a boost to Republican congressional candidate Doug Roulstone with a brief appearance at a private fund-raiser in Everett this morning.

About 250 donors paid at least $250 to hear a GOP all-star lineup, which included Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna, U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert and Cheney, who is also scheduled to speak in Spokane this evening.

The vice president touted the Bush administration's record on national security, tax cuts, and appointing conservatives to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Police kept about 100 protesters, who were waving signs calling for the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, two blocks from the event.
