Teen hurt when hit by car at bus stop, dragged

Seattle Times staff reporter

A 16-year-old boy standing at a bus stop in South Seattle was seriously injured Sunday when a car jumped the curb, struck him and dragged him 40 to 50 feet, Seattle police said.

The driver of the car, 37, of Seattle, told police he swerved to avoid a collision with another car while driving west on Holly Park Drive South at South Myrtle Place, said Seattle police spokesman Rich Pruitt.

The boy, who was not identified, was pinned under the car and pulled free by witnesses, Pruitt said.

Medics transported the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with severe injuries to an arm and a leg and possible internal injuries, Pruitt said. His condition was not disclosed.

The accident was reported at 3:46 p.m., Pruitt said.

The man driving the car suffered cuts to his face and was taken by medics to Harborview, Pruitt said. The man was not identified.

It was not clear whether the driver of the second car stopped at the scene.
