Electronic-music lovers unite in grief, disbelief

As the day went on, friends and acquaintances of the victims began checking in on the Web site www.nwtekno.org, the online gathering point for Northwest electronic-music devotees. Many of those at the party where the shooting occurred had earlier attended a rave that featured nine DJs playing experimental electronica music. The following comments posted on the site, with the names of those posting removed, reflect the grief and confusion among members of the close-knit community:

"WOW. Since I live a block away, I went to the party last night. This is just horrible. I hope everyone finds out about their friends and loved ones soon. I'm sure everyone's thoughts are with those that died."

"The last thing I'm really worried about right now is 'the scene.' I'm a little bit more concerned with the phone calls and IMs coming in to me this morning and me trying to make sure my friends are all still breathing."

"I got up this morning in full disbelief. I have been searching all over getting in touch with people I know and to hear about [this] hurts me a lot. I really don't know what else to say, other than I hope that as a community we can help each other through this horrific shooting."

"Lot of memories are coming back to me and while misunderstood, the 'rave' scene is full of some of the most beautiful and caring people I have ever met and I can't help but think that I'm sure these kids were too. I really don't know what else to say?"

"Please. We need to come together and help each other in this difficult time. We have an amazing and beautiful community. For so much pain to enter into our lives, it's so senseless, so tragic. I love you all. I can't find any more words right now, I am just so sad."
