Kenmore man dies while skiing

A 29-year-old Kenmore man died Tuesday after he was buried in snow while skiing at Stevens Pass, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office.

Michel Tanguy was in an out-of-bounds area with a friend about 1 p.m. near the Outer Limits run when he fell into a tree well, said Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum. A tree well is a hole in the snow created at the base of a tree because the tree's branches prevent snow from falling there.

Tanguy fell into the tree well, was buried in snow and suffocated, according to Harum and the medical examiner's office. Tanguy was revived but died about 4:40 p.m. in an ambulance on the way to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Harum said.
