FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — Another Fort Campbell soldier has died fighting the war in Iraq, the Army said Monday.

Staff Sgt. Christopher J. Van Der Horn, 37, of Pierce, Wash., died Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in As Sinia, Iraq, as he was patrolling, the Army said.

Van Der Horn was assigned to the Army's 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.

Two other soldiers with the 101st Airborne Division died Friday, according to the Army and the governor of Maine.

Pvt. Jonathan R. Pfender, 22, of Evansville, Ind., was killed in Bayji, Iraq, during a patrol, the Army said Sunday. Pfender was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.

In a separate incident, Sgt. 1st Class Shawn Christopher Dostie died in an attack near Baghdad, Maine Gov. John Baldacci said in a news release. Baldacci's office said Dostie was on active duty at Fort Campbell, but had no other information about him. The Army had not confirmed Dostie's death.

The Army said more than 30 troops from Fort Campbell have been killed since the 101st Airborne returned to Iraq for a second yearlong tour starting in September. More than 90 soldiers based at Fort Campbell have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003.

Approximately 20,600 soldiers from Fort Campbell are currently deployed, and nearly 20,000 of those are from the 101st Airborne Division.
